The Classics Never Get Old: Early Eighties South Fork Skiff Restoration

IMG_0290

Some of y’all may have seen Steve’s new…old Hells Bay in the last issue. We figured it might be a good idea to line up a freshwater boat for the same makeover treatment for a future issue. Well fellas, meet our new drifter. By new, I mean old as shit. Early eighties South Fork Skiff old as shit. She came to us by way of our buddy Todd at Towee Boats, by way of the owner of the old Creel Fly Shop in Knoxville, who was the O.G. owner. Turns out these little skiffs were originally built in the South for a short period of time and this just happens to be one of those true Southern South Forks’. I’ll start stripping her this weekend and getting her ready for new paint, all new wood gunnel rails, new wood and rope seats and something special for that front motor plate. So keep an eye out in the magazine and around E. TN next season. I’ll post progress pics as I get them.
