Roll The Sausage Making Music

It’s good to have friends no matter who they are. It’s especially god to have friends that are super f’n talented. The fellas from Gink and Gasoline came up a few weeks ago for some fishing and some of the most interesting shots we got were of two pros working. Kent and Louis have combined for a lot of famous cover shots of magazines (I’m talking about real magazines here, ones that people, including myself, actually pay for), and Louis even managed to get our buddy Murphy onto a national magazine cover with one of his shots, despite the fact that Murphy looks like a cross between a mexican wrestler and a sasquatch…a sasquachador if you will. We were thinking about using this as a feature in the magazine at some point, but then our seventh grade girl teeny bopper fanaticism about these fellas work might seem a little odd. So here it is, How the Sausage Is Made…Photos by Steve.

Monsters Do Exist

We here at SCOF vehemently oppose the pervasive behavior of peddling grip and grins across the intraweb…most of the time. Our buddy Matt Milner sent me a pic of one of his young Jedi clients, and what is absolutely the biggest cuttie we have ever seen. Jack Barton is the angler (12 years old) and this creature of the deep was boated on an eight foot four weight. To put things into perspective, the current Arkansas state record cutthroat is a measly 9.9 pounds. Matt swears this bad boy would have weighed in at twelve…we tend to believe Matt in matters such as these. Well done young man, and Matt, get the jet warmed up we’ll be heading your way just as soon as we can come up with an excuse to give the wives…right now we’re leaning towards mission work.

Swag-a-dasical

It’s starting to feel a lot like Spring in a lot of places around the Southeast, and my flip flops are at shop being polished up as I write this. We figured the time for selling hoodies had just about passed us by. So we took all of our mad hoody money and re-invested it not only in ourselves, but reinvested it in America…if you consider America to be our old hippie screen printer down the street. Steve has come up with some pretty all right new T-Shirt designs and they are now available in our store. We only had enough to makes small runs of each so get them while they last (which we hope won’t be long…I want to take the t-shirt money and roll it over into an inflatable castle for the office).

2012 Tie On A Thon…All Wrapped Up

So the numbers are still being crunched, but we can say with a fair amount of confidence that this year’s Tie-One-On-A-Thon was a resounding success. We had more tiers, prizes, attendees, flies tied, and most importantly made more money for Project Healing Waters this year compared to last year…so in Spinal tap terms this year was an 11. We would like to thank all the sponsors that helped us put on the event this year, especially our main two co-sponsors Cameron Mortenson, of the Fiberglass Manifesto, and Hunter Banks Fly Shop. Without ya’ll it would be just us, and we’re pretty lame so once again thanks for all the support, and enjoy the pretty pictures.
